Suy Niệm: Qua dụ ngôn những người tá điền sát nhân trong vườn nho, ta thấy hình ảnh của dân tộc Israel đã ra tay giết hại các ngôn sứ do Thiên Chúa sai đến và sau cùng là giết chính người Con của Thiên Chúa. Qua đó, Thiên Chúa cho ta thấy sự nhẫn nại của Người trước những ác tâm của loài người.
Cầu Nguyện: Lạy Chúa Giêsu, hai ngàn năm đã qua, nhưng bài học của dân Israel thuở xưa vẫn còn in đậm trong cuộc sống của chúng con.
Xin cho chúng con luôn xác tín rằng Ngài không còn hiện diện nhãn tiền nữa, nhưng Ngài có đó trong Giáo Hội và những người dạy dỗ chúng con, để chúng con biết khiêm nhường mở lòng đón nhận Lời Chúa, và cuộc sống chúng con luôn là hoa trái tốt tươi từ cây tình yêu bao la của Chúa. Amen.

Bài Ðọc I: Is 5, 1-7 “Vườn nho của Chúa các đạo binh là nhà Israel”.
Bài trích sách Tiên tri Isaia.
Tôi sẽ ca tặng người yêu bài hát của cô bác tôi về vườn nho.
Người tôi yêu có một vườn nho trên đồi xinh tươi. Người rào giậu, nhặt đá, trồng cây chọn lọc, xây tháp giữa vườn, lập máy ép trong vườn, và trông mong nó sinh quả nho, nhưng nó lại sinh toàn nho dại.
Vậy giờ đây, hỡi dân cư Giêrusalem và người Giuđa, hãy luận xét giữa ta và vườn nho ta. Nào còn việc gì phải làm cho vườn nho ta mà ta đã không làm? Sao ta trông mong nó sinh quả nho, mà nó lại sinh quả nho dại!
Giờ đây ta tỏ bày cho các ngươi biết ta sẽ làm gì đối với vườn nho ta: Ta sẽ phá hàng rào, để nó bị tàn phá, sẽ phá tường để nó phải bị giầy đạp. Ta sẽ bỏ nó hoang vu, không cắt tỉa, không vun xới; gai góc sẽ mọc lên, và ta sẽ khiến mây không mưa xuống trên nó. Vườn nho của Chúa các đạo binh là nhà Israel, và người Giuđa là chồi cây Chúa vui thích. Ta trông mong nó thực hành điều chính trực, nhưng đây toàn sự gian ác. Ta trông mong nó thực hành đức công bình, nhưng đây toàn là tiếng kêu oan. Ðó là lời Chúa.
Ðáp Ca: Tv 79, 9 và 12. 13-14. 15-16. 19-20 Ðáp: Vườn nho của Chúa là nhà Israel (c. Is 5, 7a).
Xướng: 1) Từ Ai-cập Chúa đã mang về một gốc nho. Chúa đã đuổi chư dân đi để ương trồng nó. Nó vươn ngành ra cho tới nơi biển cả, vươn chồi non cho tới chỗ đại giang. – Ðáp.
2) Tại sao Ngài phá vỡ hàng rào, để bao khách qua đường đều lảy hái nó, để lợn rừng xông ra tàn phá, và muông thú ngoài đồng dùng nó làm cỏ nuôi thân? – Ðáp.
3) Lạy Chúa thiên binh, xin thương trở lại; từ trời cao xin nhìn coi và thăm viếng vườn nho này. Xin bảo vệ vườn nho mà tay hữu Ngài đã cấy, bảo vệ ngành nho mà Ngài đã củng cố cho mình. – Ðáp.
4) Chúng con sẽ không còn rời xa Chúa nữa. Chúa cho chúng con được sống, và chúng con ca tụng danh Ngài. Lạy Chúa thiên binh, xin cho chúng con được phục hồi, xin tỏ thiên nhan hiền từ Chúa ra, hầu cho chúng con được ơn cứu sống. – Ðáp.

Anh em thân mến, anh em đừng lo lắng gì hết, nhưng trong khi cầu nguyện, anh em hãy trình bày những ước vọng lên cùng Chúa, bằng kinh nguyện và lời cầu xin đi đôi với lời cảm tạ. Và bình an của Thiên Chúa vượt mọi trí hiểu, sẽ giữ gìn lòng trí anh em trong Chúa Giêsu Kitô.
Vả lại, hỡi anh em, những gì là chân thật, trong sạch, công chính, là thánh thiện, đáng yêu chuộng, danh thơm tiếng tốt, là nhân đức, là luật pháp đáng khen, thì anh em hãy tưởng nghĩ những sự ấy. Tin Mừng Chúa Giêsu Kitô theo Thánh Matthêu.
Khi ấy, Chúa Giêsu phán cùng các thượng tế và các kỳ lão trong dân rằng: “Các ông hãy nghe dụ ngôn này: Có ông chủ nhà kia trồng được một vườn nho. Ông rào dậu chung quanh, đào hầm ép rượu và xây tháp canh, đoạn ông cho tá điền thuê, rồi đi phương xa. Ðến mùa nho, ông sai đầy tớ đến nhà tá điền để thu phần hoa lợi. Nhưng những người làm vườn nho bắt các đầy tớ ông: đánh đứa này, giết đứa kia và ném đá đứa khác. Chủ lại sai một số đầy tớ khác đông hơn trước, nhưng họ cũng xử với chúng như vậy. Sau cùng chủ sai chính con trai mình đến với họ, vì nghĩ rằng: Họ sẽ kính nể con trai mình. Nhưng bọn làm vườn vừa thấy con trai ông chủ liền bảo nhau: “Ðứa con thừa tự kia rồi, nào anh em! Chúng ta hãy giết nó đi và chiếm lấy gia tài của nó”. Rồi họ bắt cậu, lôi ra khỏi vườn nho mà giết. Vậy khi chủ về, ông sẽ xử trí với bọn họ thế nào?” Các ông trả lời, “Ông sẽ tru diệt bọn hung ác đó, và sẽ cho người khác thuê vườn nho để cứ mùa nộp phần hoa lợi”.
Chúa Giêsu phán: “Các ông chưa bao giờ đọc thấy trong Kinh Thánh: “Chính viên đá bọn thợ loại ra, đã trở nên viên đá góc. Ðó là việc Chúa làm và là việc lạ lùng trước mắt chúng ta!” Bởi vậy, Tôi bảo các ông: Nước Thiên Chúa sẽ cất khỏi các ông để trao cho dân tộc khác biết làm cho trổ sinh hoa trái”. Ðó là lời Chúa.
LỜI NGUYỆN CHUNG:
Chủ Tế: Anh chị em thân mến, Thiên Chúa đã lấy vườn nho yêu quý của Ngài từ tay dân do thái bất trung để trao lại cho Giáo Hội, với hy vọng Giáo Hội sẽ làm cho nó sinh nhiều hoa trái. Trong tâm tình biết ơn Chúa, chúng ta hãy dâng lên Ngài những lời nguyện tha thiết.
1- Hội Thánh là người quản lý Nước Trời / Chúng ta hiệp lời cầu xin cho Đức Giáo Hoàng, các Đức Giám mục và các Linh mục / siêng năng trong nhiệm vụ cao cả của mình, để Nước Trời ngày càng mở rộng khắp nơi.
2- Trái đất này cũng là một vườn nho tươi tốt Chúa trao cho loài người khai thác / Chúng ta hiệp lời cầu xin cho các nhà lãnh đạo các nước / biết khôn ngoan quản lý đất nước mình / hầu cho mọi người dân được an cư lạc nghiệp.
3- Sở dĩ ngày nay còn nhiều người đói nghèo túng thiếu / là vì con người không biết chia sẻ cho nhau / như một hình thức nộp hoa lợi cho Chúa / Chúng ta hiệp lời cầu xin cho những người dư ăn dư mặc / biết quảng đại chia sớt cho những người túng thiếu.
4- Giáo xứ là một vườn nho nhỏ / trong đó mọi thành phần là những thợ vườn nho / Chúng ta hiệp lời cầu xin cho cộng đoàn giáo xứ chúng ta / tích cực làm cho vườn nho Chúa sinh nhiều trái tốt / và biết nộp hoa lợi cho Chúa bằng những việc lành.
Chủ Tế: Lạy Chúa Giêsu, Chúa đã khiển trách dân do thái đã lãnh nhận vườn nho của Chúa nhưng không chịu nộp phần hoa lợi. Hội Thánh chúng con ngày nay cũng đang quản lý vườn nho Chúa và cũng chưa nộp hoa lợi cho đúng mức. Xin Chúa đừng trừng phạt Hội Thánh, nhưng xin giúp mọi thành phần Hội Thánh ý thức thiếu sót của mình để từ nay tích cực hơn trong bổn phận của mình. Chúa là Đấng hằng sống và hiển trị muôn đời. Amen.

Jesus said to the chief priests and the elders of the people:
“Hear another parable.
There was a landowner who planted a vineyard,
put a hedge around it, dug a wine press in it, and built a tower.
Then he leased it to tenants and went on a journey.
When vintage time drew near,
he sent his servants to the tenants to obtain his produce.
But the tenants seized the servants and one they beat,
another they killed, and a third they stoned.
Again he sent other servants, more numerous than the first ones,
but they treated them in the same way.
Finally, he sent his son to them, thinking,
‘They will respect my son.’
But when the tenants saw the son, they said to one another,
‘This is the heir.
Come, let us kill him and acquire his inheritance.’
They seized him, threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him.
What will the owner of the vineyard do to those tenants when he comes?”
They answered him,
“He will put those wretched men to a wretched death
and lease his vineyard to other tenants
who will give him the produce at the proper times.”
Jesus said to them, “Did you never read in the Scriptures:
The stone that the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone;
by the Lord has this been done,
and it is wonderful in our eyes?
Therefore, I say to you,
the kingdom of God will be taken away from you

Gospel Reading: Matthew 21:33-43
33 “Hear another parable. There was a householder who planted a vineyard, and set a hedge around it, and dug a wine press in it, and built a tower, and let it out to tenants, and went into another country. 34 When the season of fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the tenants, to get his fruit; 35 and the tenants took his servants and beat one, killed another, and stoned another. 36 Again he sent other servants, more than the first; and they did the same to them. 37 Afterward he sent his son to them, saying, `They will respect my son.’ 38 But when the tenants saw the son, they said to themselves, `This is the heir; come, let us kill him and have his inheritance.’ 39 And they took him and cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. 40 When therefore the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those tenants?” 41 They said to him, “He will put those wretches to a miserable death, and let out the vineyard to other tenants who will give him the fruits in their seasons.”42 Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the scriptures: `The very stone which the builders rejected has become the head of the corner; this was the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes’? 43 Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a nation producing the fruits of it.”
Scripture Reading: Isaiah 5:1-7
1 Let me sing for my beloved a love song concerning his vineyard: My beloved had a vineyard on a very fertile hill. 2 He digged it and cleared it of stones, and planted it with choice vines; he built a watchtower in the midst of it, and hewed out a wine vat in it; and he looked for it to yield grapes, but it yielded wild grapes. 3
And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem and men of Judah, judge, I pray you, between me and my vineyard. 4 What more was there to do for my vineyard, that I have not done in it? When I looked for it to yield grapes, why did it yield wild grapes? 5 And now I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard. I will remove its hedge, and it shall be devoured; I will break down its wall, and it shall be trampled down. 6 I will make it a waste; it shall not be pruned or hoed, and briers and thorns shall grow up; I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it. 7 For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah are his pleasant planting; and he looked for justice, but behold, bloodshed; for righteousness, but behold, a cry!
Meditation: What is the message of the parable of the vineyard? Jesus’ story about an absentee landlord and his not-so-good tenants would have made sense to his audience. The hills of Galilee were lined with numerous vineyards, and it was quite common for the owners to let out their estates to tenants. Many did it for the sole purpose of collecting rent.
The Lord’s vineyard in the house of his people
Why did Jesus’ story about wicked tenants cause offense to the scribes and Pharisees? It contained both a prophetic message and a warning. Isaiah had spoken of the house of Israel as “the vineyard of the Lord” (Isaiah 5:7). Jesus’ listeners would have likely understood this parable as referring to God’s dealing with a stubborn and rebellious people.
This parable speaks to us today as well. It richly conveys some important truths about God and the way he deals with his people. First, it tells us of God’s generosity and trust. The vineyard is well equipped with everything the tenants need. The owner went away and left the vineyard in the hands of the tenants. God, likewise trusts us enough to give us freedom to run life as we choose. This parable also tells us of God’s patience and justice. Not once, but many times he forgives the tenants their debts. But while the tenants take advantage of the owner’s patience, his judgment and justice prevail in the end.
Gift of the kingdom
Jesus foretold both his death on the cross and his ultimate triumph. He knew he would be rejected and put to death, but he also knew that would not be the end. After rejection would come glory – the glory of his resurrection from the grave and his ascension to the right hand of the Father in heaven.
The Lord blesses his people today with the gift of his kingdom – a kingdom of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. And he promises that we will bear much fruit if we abide in him (see John 15:1-11). He entrusts his gifts and grace (unmerited favor and blessing) to each of us and he gives us work to do in his vineyard – the body of Christ in our midst today. He promises that our labor for him will not be in vain if we persevere with faith to the end (see 1 Corinthians 15:58).
We can expect trials and even persecution. But in the end we will see triumph. Do you follow and serve the Lord Jesus with joyful hope and confidence in the victory he has won for you and the gift of abundant new life in the Holy Spirit?

8 You brought a vine out of Egypt; you drove out the nations and plant it.
