Suy Niệm: Dụ ngôn cỏ lùng muốn nói đến Giáo Hội ở trần gian lúc nào cũng tồn tại hai hạng người lành dữ và hai thế lực thiện ác lẫn lộn. Ðức Giêsu muốn chúng ta phải cảnh giác và kiên nhẫn trong đức tin. Chính Thiên Chúa đang kiên nhẫn chờ đợi để cho chúng ta được ơn cứu độ.
Cầu Nguyện: Lạy Chúa Giêsu, nhiều lúc chúng con khó chịu, bất mãn về những điểm tiêu cực nơi chính mình và nơi anh em. Nhiều lúc chúng con đã thầm trách: tại sao Chúa không ra tay? Thiện ác lẫn lộn sẽ có nguy cơ làm thiệt hại đến người lành không? – Bài Tin Mừng hôm nay cho chúng con nhận ra sự nhẫn nại của Thiên Chúa. Thiên Chúa nhẫn nại để chờ đợi con người hoán cải. Thời gian là điều kiện để có thể biến đổi. Xin cho chúng con được dần dần biến đổi từ xấu sang tốt. Amen.
Chúa Nhật 16 Thường Niên – Năm A
[one_half]Bài Ðọc I: Kn 12, 13. 16-19 “Người ban cho kẻ tội lỗi ơn ăn năn trở lại”.
Trích sách Khôn Ngoan.
Ngoài Chúa, không có chúa nào khác chăm sóc mọi sự, ngõ hầu minh chứng rằng Chúa không đoán xét bất công. Vì chưng, sức mạnh của Chúa là nguồn gốc sự công minh, và vì Người là Chúa mọi sự, nên tỏ ra khoan dung với mọi người. Chúa chỉ tỏ sức mạnh Chúa ra khi có kẻ không tin vào uy quyền của Chúa, và triệt hạ kẻ kiêu căng không nhìn biết Người.
Vì là chủ sức mạnh, nên Chúa xét xử hiền lành, Chúa thống trị chúng ta với đầy lòng khoan dung: vì khi Chúa muốn, mọi quyền hành tuân lệnh Người. Khi hành động như thế, Người dạy dỗ dân Người rằng: Người công chính phải ăn ở nhân đạo, và Người làm cho con cái Người đầy hy vọng rằng: Người ban cho kẻ tội lỗi ơn ăn năn sám hối. Ðó là lời Chúa.

Anh em thân mến, có Thánh Thần nâng đỡ sự yếu hèn của chúng ta. Vì chúng ta không biết cầu nguyện thế nào cho xứng hợp, nhưng chính Thánh Thần cầu xin cho chúng ta bằng những tiếng than khôn tả. Mà Ðấng thấu suốt tâm hồn, thì biết điều Thánh Thần ước muốn. Bởi vì Thánh Thần cầu xin cho các thánh theo ý Thiên Chúa. Ðó là lời Chúa.

Tin Mừng Chúa Giêsu Kitô theo Thánh Matthêu.
Khi ấy, Chúa Giêsu phán một dụ ngôn khác cùng dân chúng rằng: “Nước trời giống như người kia gieo giống tốt trong ruộng mình. Trong lúc mọi người ngủ, thì kẻ thù của ông đến gieo cỏ lùng vào ngay giữa lúa, rồi đi mất. Khi lúa lớn lên và trổ bông thì cỏ lùng cũng lộ ra. Ðầy tớ chủ nhà đến nói với ông rằng: “Thưa ông, thế ông đã không gieo giống tốt trong ruộng ông sao? Vậy cỏ lùng từ đâu mà có?” Ông đáp: “Người thù của ta đã làm như thế”. Ðầy tớ nói với chủ: “Nếu ông bằng lòng, chúng tôi xin đi nhổ cỏ”. Chủ nhà đáp: “Không được, kẻo khi nhổ cỏ lùng, các anh lại nhổ luôn cả lúa chăng. Hãy cứ để cả hai mọc lên cho đến mùa gặt. Và đến mùa, ta sẽ dặn thợ gặt: “Các anh hãy nhổ cỏ lùng trước, rồi bó lại từng bó mà đốt đi, sau mới thu lúa lại chất vào lẫm cho ta”.
{Người lại nói với họ dụ ngôn khác mà rằng: “Nước trời giống như hạt cải người kia gieo trong ruộng mình. Hạt đó bé nhỏ hơn mọi thứ hạt giống, nhưng khi mọc lên, thì lớn hơn mọi thứ rau cỏ, rồi thành cây, đến nỗi chim trời đến nương náu nơi ngành nó”.
Người lại nói với họ một dụ ngôn khác nữa mà rằng: “Nước trời giống như men người đàn bà kia lấy đem trộn vào ba đấu bột, cho đến khi bột dậy men”.
Chúa Giêsu dùng dụ ngôn mà phán những điều ấy với dân chúng. Người không phán điều gì với họ mà không dùng dụ ngôn, để ứng nghiệm lời tiên tri đã chép rằng: “Ta sẽ mở miệng nói lời dụ ngôn, Ta sẽ tỏ ra những điều bí nhiệm từ lúc dựng nên thế gian”. Sau khi giải tán dân chúng, Người trở về nhà. Các môn đệ đến gặp Người và thưa rằng: “Xin Thầy giải thích dụ ngôn cỏ lùng trong ruộng cho chúng con nghe”. Người đáp rằng: “Kẻ gieo giống tốt là Con Người. Ruộng là thế gian. Còn hạt giống tốt là con cái Nước trời. Cỏ lùng là con cái gian ác. Kẻ thù gieo cỏ lùng là ma quỷ. Mùa gặt là ngày tận thế. Thợ gặt là các thiên thần. Cũng như người ta thu lấy cỏ lùng, rồi thiêu đốt trong lửa thế nào, thì ngày tận thế cũng sẽ xảy ra như vậy: Con Người sẽ sai các thiên thần đi thu tất cả gương xấu và mọi kẻ làm điều gian ác khỏi nước Chúa, rồi ném tất cả chúng vào lửa: ở đó sẽ phải khóc lóc nghiến răng. Bấy giờ kẻ lành sẽ sáng chói như mặt trời trong Nước của Cha mình. Ai có tai để nghe thì hãy nghe”.} Ðó là lời Chúa.
LỜI NGUYỆN CHUNG:
Chủ Tế : Anh chị em thân mến, Thiên Chúa là Đấng từ bi nhân hậu, chậm bất bình và giàu lòng khoan dung. Người luôn kiên nhẫn đợi trông kẻ có tội ăn năn trở lại. Chúng ta cùng cảm tạ Chúa và dâng lời cầu xin.
1- Hội Thánh luôn tạo điều kiện thuận lợi / để kẻ tội lỗi luôn có thể quay về với Chúa / Chúng ta hiệp lời cầu xin cho các kitô hữu / biết nhận ra tình thương của Hội Thánh là mẹ chúng ta.
2- Ngày nay / người tốt kẻ xấu vẫn còn sống lẫn lộn ngay trong lòng Hội Thánh / Chúng ta hiệp lời cầu xin cho các vị mục tử / kiên nhẫn cảm hóa những kẻ tội lỗi / bằng chính tình thương tha thứ của Đức Kitô / Vị Mục Tử nhân lành.
3- Cuộc sống trần gian ngày hôm nay / quyết định số phận mai ngày của người kitô hữu / Chúng ta hiệp lời cầu xin cho mọi tín hữu / biết luôn cố gắng sống bác ái yêu thương / tận tuỵ phục vụ trong khiêm tốn / để trở nên muối ướp mặn đời / và ánh sáng cho trần gian / Nhờ đó họ sẽ được Chúa tưởng thưởng trong ngày phán xét chung.
4- Ngay trong chính bản thân mỗi người / vẫn hiện diện song song hai khuynh hướng tốt và xấu / Chúng ta hiệp lời cầu xin cho cộng đoàn xứ đạo chúng ta / luôn biết chế ngự thói xấu bằng cách cố gắng sống theo Lời Chúa dạy / siêng năng lãnh nhận các bí tích hòa giải và Thánh lễ / đồng thời tuân theo lời giáo huấn của Hội Thánh.
Chủ Tế : Lạy Chúa, chúng con thường hay xét đoán người khác rất khắc khe mà hầu như quên xét lại chính bản thân mình. Xin giúp chúng con biết can đảm dứt khoác với tật xấu này, để chúng con có thể noi gương Chúa mà sống nhân từ với mọi người hơn. Chúng con cầu xin nhờ Đức Kitô Chúa chúng con[/one_half]

‘Master, did you not sow good seed in your field?
Where have the weeds come from?’
He answered, ‘An enemy has done this.’
His slaves said to him, ‘Do you want us to go and pull them up?’
He replied, ‘No, if you pull up the weeds
you might uproot the wheat along with them.
Let them grow together until harvest;
then at harvest time I will say to the harvesters,
“First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles for burning;

Sowing good seeds and sowing weeds
24 Another parable he put before them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field; 25 but while men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. 26 So when the plants came up and bore grain, then the weeds appeared also. 27 And the servants of the householder came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then has it weeds?’ 28 He said to them, `An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, `Then do you want us to go and gather them?’ 29 But he said, `No; lest in gathering the weeds you root up the wheat along with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest; and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, Gather the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn.'”
Parable of the mustard seed and leaven
31 Another parable he put before them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed which a man took and sowed in his field; 32 it is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is the greatest of shrubs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.” 33 He told them another parable. “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven which a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, till it was all leavened.” 34 All this Jesus said to the crowds in parables; indeed he said nothing to them without a parable. 35 This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet: “I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter what has been hidden since the foundation of the world.”
Jesus explains the parable
36 Then he left the crowds and went into the house. And his disciples came to him, saying, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds of the field.” 37 He answered, “He who sows the good seed is the Son of man; 38 the field is the world, and the good seed means the sons of the kingdom; the weeds are the sons of the evil one, 39 and the enemy who sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the close of the age, and the reapers are angels. 40 Just as the weeds are gathered and burned with fire, so will it be at the close of the age. 41 The Son of man will send his angels, and they will gather out of his kingdom all causes of sin and all evildoers, 42 and throw them into the furnace of fire; there men will weep and gnash their teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear.”
Meditation: What can malicious weed-sowing tell us about the kingdom of God (Matthew 13:25)? The image Jesus uses in this parable is a common everyday example of planting, harvesting, and sorting the good fruit from the bad. Weeds can spoil and even kill a good harvest if they are not separated and destroyed at the proper time. Uprooting them too early, though, can destroy the good plants in the process.
Letting God’s word take deep root in the heart
Just as nature teaches us patience, so God’s patience also teaches us to guard the seed of his word which he has planted in our hearts and to beware of the destructive force of sin and evil that can destroy it. God’s word brings life, but Satan seeks to destroy the good seed which has been planted in the hearts of those who have heard God’s word. God’s judgment is not hasty, but it does come. And in the end, God will reward each according to what they have sown and reaped in this life. In that day God will separate the evil from the good. Do you allow God’s word to take deep root in your heart?
Growth and transformation from within
What can mustard seeds and leaven teach us about the kingdom of God? The tiny mustard seed literally grew to be a tree which attracted numerous birds because they loved the little black mustard seed it produced. God’s kingdom works in a similar fashion. It starts from the smallest beginnings in the hearts of men and women who are receptive to God’s word. And it works unseen and causes a transformation from within.
The Holy Spirit transforms us
Leaven is another powerful agent of change. A lump of dough left to itself remains just what it is, a lump of dough. But when the leaven is added to it a transformation takes place which produces rich and wholesome bread when heated – the staple of life for humans. The kingdom of God produces a transformation in those who receive the new life which Jesus Christ offers. When we yield to Jesus Christ, our lives are transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit who dwells in us. Paul the Apostle says, “we have this treasure in earthen vessels, to show that the transcendent power belongs to God and not to us” (2 Corinthians 4:7). Do you believe in the transforming power of the Holy Spirit?
Good and evil are sown in our hearts like tiny seeds which germinate, and in due time yield a harvest of good or bad fruit. Charles Read said: “Sow an act and you reap a habit. Sow a habit and you reap a character. Sow a character and you reap a destiny.” In the day of judgment each will reap what he or she has sown in this life. Those who sow good will shine in the kingdom of their Father. They will radiate with the beauty, joy, and fullness of God’s love. Do you allow the love of Christ to rule in your heart and in your actions?
“Lord Jesus, let your word take root in my heart and may your all-consuming love transform my life that I may sow what is good, worthy, and pleasing to you.”

Daily Quote from the early church fathers: Faith as a grain of mustard, by Jerome (347-420 AD)
“The man who sows in his field is interpreted by many as the Savior. He sows in the souls of believers. By others he is interpreted as one who sows in his field – that is to say, in himself and in his heart. Who is it that sows if not our mind and heart? They take up the grain of preaching and nurture the plant with the moisture of faith, making it sprout and shoot up in the field of the heart. The preaching of faith in the gospel appears to be least among all tasks. Indeed, anyone who preaches the God-man of truth, Christ who died, and the stumbling block of the cross may not think immediately of mere faith as the primary doctrine. Put this particular doctrine side by side with the teachings of the philosophers, their books, their splendid eloquence and fine discourses, and you will see just how small it is compared with the other seeds of the gospel plant. When those teachings grow, they have nothing to show that is pungent or vigorous or vital. Everything turns out weak and withering in a plant and in herbs that quickly dry up and fall to the ground. But when this tiny gospel teaching that seemed insignificant at the beginning has been planted either in the soul of the believer or throughout the world, it does not turn out to be just a plant.
